Chapter 1
On page 7 Greg confesses that he's trying not to be envious of other people's blessings. Have you ever felt like that? Do you ever wonder when it's going to be 'your turn'? Do you think it's okay to express those kind of feelings to God? How can you get a handle on them and keep them from negatively effecting your life? Can you find bible passages that help you put things in perspective?
Chapter 2
On page 15 Beth tells Greg that she can't leave him alone because he needs her help. On the next page she thinks about how Greg is going to be a "fine pastor someday." Have you ever had to deal with someone like Greg, someone who needed help but didn't want it? Do you think Beth was right to push him or should she have waited for him to ask for help? How can you know when to push and when to wait? See if you can find examples in the bible of when people pushed and when they waited. Compare them and see if you can find commonalities and differences.
Chapter 4
On page 31 Steve tells Greg that "Sometimes we need lies to deal with life because life isn't safe. We only lose the lies when we get to a safe place." Do you agree with Steve? Is Steve saying that it's a good thing to lie? Have you ever had to lie because life wasn't safe? If so, how can you find that safe place within yourself so that you can get rid of lies? What does the bible say about our safety?
