Read page 223, from near the top, "'Guess you're right,' Greg ..." down near the bottom, "'Man, you really take ...'"
Kaipo has made an erroneous assumption that Greg lives with Beth. Greg is shocked because he's looking at it from a biblical perspective. Kaipo apparently hasn't had much interaction with Bible-believing Christians.
Greg says, "If you aren't obeying God, why bother calling yourself a Christian?" and "God's worth obeying in everything, not just the easy things ...." Do you think God really wants us to live life differently? How much of your life is he concerned about? Does he care about sexual purity, how we talk to people, how we drive on the freeway?
Use a concordance to help you explore what the New Testament says about obeying God. What are the rewards of obedience? What are the consequences of disobedience? Are there any limits in the areas we are to obey God? What does Galatians 5:22-23 tell us about how we will learn obedience?
Are you like Greg, generally trying to obey God or like Kaipo, thinking that salvation doesn't really make any difference in this life? Who do you want to be like? What do you need to do to be the person you want to be? How can your friends best help you to achieve that goal?
