Warning: The question contains spoilers. If you haven't already read the book, you may not want to read the questions.
Read page 78-79, from the middle of the page, "'I’m shocked that my ...'" over to the middle of page 79, "'Perfect fit,' she said. ..."
Heather is shocked to find out that Sarah lost her husband the same day Heather buried her father. Sarah still aches because she didn't get to say good-bye and she feels as if Rick had unfinished business. Death and divorce are very different but also similar. Can you understand how Sarah feels? Do you too have a longing to see things finished in a better way?
In the Bible, there are accounts of men who lost their wives. Read Judges 14:1 to 15:8, the story of Samson's brief marriage and its disasterous aftermath. What did Samson do wrong? Now read Ezekiel 24:15-27, the story of Ezekiel's wife's death. What did Ezekiel do right?
Consider some of your regrets in your marriage. How were you too much like Samson? How could you be more like Ezekiel? How can you turn those previous regrets into something that glorifies God? What are specific steps you can take to begin to act on your current understanding? How can your friends best help you keep your focus on God instead of on your regrets?
