Read page 169-171, from the top of the page, "'I love football,' Steve ..." through the end of that scene.
Steve tells Heather that he's leaving the next day to return to Chicago for the start of football practice. They talk about their relationship and where it's going. What are the different points they make. Do you think they're being wise? Why or why not? Do you think they should throw caution to the wind and follow their emotions? Why or why not?
Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job are wisdom literature. With your friends, explore what those books say about relationships and about living for God. (You can use a concordance to look up relationship words like "friend" or "wife" for the relationships and "God" or "Lord" for the parts about God.) Do you find any seemingly contradictory advice? What does that tell you about wisdom? What is the source of wisdom? Do you always need to do the wise thing? Under what conditions can you safely ignore wisdom?
Have you been unwise in your relationship decisions? What steps can you take to be more wise?
Have you been too wise in your relationship decisions? What steps can you take to be less cautious?
How can you and your friends help each other trust God more without totally flaunting wisdom?
